2011 Hijinx
Here is a list of the some of the stuff that happened in Vancouver this year - let me know if I missed anything.
- There were 17 in total on the tour, including two Vancouver locals. Most of us grew moustaches for Movember and were looking pretty damn good.... if it were 1977.
- Stewardess er sorry flight attendant on our group flight out to YVR says she thought Kenny would be "too old" for an Anchorman reference to Big Fun Rick's moustache.
- We were 'money' on the way from the airport to our host hotel, the Metropolitan and the group took limos crosstown.
- Hot tubbing + Bailey's proves a popular past time for some at the hotel.
- The actual Vanier Cup game was great with Mac winning over Laval in double OT in front of about 25000. Grey Cup was also a decent game in front of over 55,000 with hometown Lions beating the Bombers. Some of the guys never made to the end of either game.
- Vanier Santa costumes were again a big hit with the public as we stopped for several photo ops. Commander styled in a "Buccaneer Santa" look that was unique. Kenny dyed all our moustaches white for that authentic Pere Noel look.
- Our favourite hang outs on the weekend included Moxie's, Cactus Club, and The Roxy.
- While waiting for a dinner at the Keg, Kenny gets us into a "Moustache Contest", judged by a former Miss Canada and an actual international figure skating judge.
- After dinner at the Keg on Saturday we get admitted to a mystery back room bar with exhorbitantly high priced drinks.
- Big Fun Rick saves Kenny from getting kicked out of the Roxy after Kenny gives a Bomber's fan a wee shove to back off.
- We visit the Convention Centre and Olympic Flame...quickly....then go get more beer.
- IT Loney and Shawzee have a complaint about their single bed, write a strongly worded letter, and get free chips and nice fluffy robes....but move out to another hotel anyway.
- Kenny gets into a dance off on Sunday night at Joe's Apartment, then is subsequently propositioned for an 'intimate after-party' with a creepy couple (note: he said "no").
- We hear a rumour that two 73 year olds got into a dust up at a CFL banquet - and at "first call" at the Cactus Club on Sunday we get to see the scrap between King Kong Mosca and Joe Kapp on the screens to much applause and cheering.
- We meet the $10,000 woman at Moxie's after the Grey Cup. She's quite a sweetheart and introduces IT Loney up close and personal to her two friends.
- Neil the New Guy wins rookie of the year. Sully, shockingly, did not. Neil sums the weekend up nicely as follows: "I'm been living in Vancouver for 12 years, but hanging around with you guys for two nights and I've seen more crazy sh1t in that time than in those 12 years."
