Laval 13 Sask 8

What a game, what a weekend. We had an excellent time in S'toon. The game was a very big team in ToonTown, front page news and a sold out stadium of about 13,000.

It was about -25C during the game, but we didn't let that dampen our 'spirits'.

Closest prediction was the V-Line, the only call to predict a Laval victory.

Now, following tradition, here are the updates:

Fir Sure List
1. Kenny G Blackburn
2. Adam V Brown
3. Jerred J-Rock Bittle
4. Dirty Don Rorwick
5. Skinny Robin McMillan
(we lost a team member late as Walthers had family issues to attend to.)

Celebrity Sighting
Larry Haylor, recently retired Western Mustangs coach - on our plane.
Greg Marshall, former coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and new coach at Western - Winston's pub.
Larry Dobie, coach of the Manitoba Bisons - Winston's pub.
Denis Piche, coach of the Ottawa GeeGees and coach of the year - Winnipeg airport.

Rookie of the Year
Not awarded - no rookie attendee. Honorary winner: the meth-head that Kenny befriended on Friday night.

Road Tour Info
Laval Rouge et Or 13 Saskatchewan Huskies 8

  • First ever game held outside Ontario, in the beautiful prairie town of Saskatoon.
  • We flew to a Vanier for the first time. Even though Alberta is WEST of Sask, we still stop for a quick pint and snack at the airport bar in Calgary.
  • Coldest Vanier on record at -25C (compared to 20C at all the SkyDump games!). So cold in fact the Coke for mix was freezing and slushy before the rye was added.
  • Friday night beverages enjoyed at Winston's Pub, where Kenny befriends a homelss crystal meth addict and buys her nachos before she gets kicked out.
  • Saturday night spent at the Rodeo, where vodka and Red Bull is enjoyed by all. According to the bartender, Rodeo is "where they aren't good lookin' but they're easy".
  • Apparently the city of Saskatoon has only three cabs - and two had the weekend off. Very difficult to get a taxi in this town!
  • We wear our warmest clothes to the game. Don decides a green Afro wig would be perfect for warmth, as well as good for smuggling in whiskey to the game.
  • Security was very lax and we managed to bring in a large quantity of booze. J-Rock and Kenny spent Saturday morning siphoning booze into IV bags to bring into the stadium. NURSE!
  • Kenny is befriended by a young co-ed at the game, who calls him "Dr. Dreamy McCutie" after he claims to be a physician with the IV bags full of medicine for her. She proceeds to get smashed on the straight vodka G had in his IV kit, and passes out in the stands. NICE.
  • J-Rock attempts to wear a "meat curtain" toque on Friday night, with little success.
  • Skinny quizzes the waiter at the Keg on Friday night - "What is your tastiest steak?"
  • With only five in attendance this year, Kenny convinces the flight attendent on the way to Calgary that we were in fact a boy band. We decide to become "Menudo" for the weekend, complete with aliases (see next post).
  • Due to confusion with the time change, we decide on our own time zone "Menudo Time" which is exactly half an hour between Central and Eastern.
