2017 Tour

The 2017 tour only saw one guy go on a whirlwind tour to Vanier Cup in Hamilton (blowout win by Western over Laval).

A few other guys attended the Grey Cup in Ottawa, while other guys just enjoyed various Grey Cup festivities without actually going to the game.

18 Sleeps Update

Hi All,

Your faithful executive met on Monday PM at a secret location in the west end of Ottawa that rhymes with Coxie’s. Numerous serious topics were discussed including global warming, the world political stability (or lack thereof) how to manage the most amount of fun/booze in 2 days during Grey Cup weekend. Let me have any suggestions or have any questions. Also have heard from a few people who are interested so if you are in, please make sure you let me know. As far as itinerary, we have a rough plan that looks like this;

Saturday afternoon

1-3 PM  - those who are staying in Hotel check in (currently at Four Points in Gatineau) http://www.fourpointsgatineau.com/index.php  Might see if we can get rooms on Ottawa side if they open up depending on teams in Grey Cup. Regardless, it is 5 minutes from downtown Ottawa and close to other venues ;  ) We have a couple extra rooms so let me know if you want one. First come first serve. $185/night with my corp rate.

3-6-ish – thinking about attending RNation party at Aberdeen Pavillion ($10) Let me know and I can order u a ticket   http://greycupfestival105.ca/events/rnation-party-presented-budweiser-nov-25/

6-7:30 ish – dinner somewhere …will try to get reservations either near Lansdowne or in Market once I get numbers. LET ME KNOW IF U ARE IN FOR DINNER

8-??? – Spirit of Edmonton party in Byward Market at Sens House (free)

Sunday

9-10  - Breakfast Caesars etc. (BTW...bars open at 8AM on Quebec side !) DON the SANTA suits! Vote was taken on whether to wear them and Santa suits won.

10-12  -grab some food/drinks and head to Bank Street… might be good to start a few blocks from Lansdowne and see the sights, hit some bars

12-5-ish – Tailgate party. Spence has a contact who has invited us to their Tailgate party which is right around corner from Stadium. We will be dropping off a BBQ on Friday so we can do eats. Let us know if you are attending so we grab enough burgers/dogs etc. Pic of their party van below…

5ish -10 -  Grey Cup kicks off at 6 PM so those who have tickets go to game… we who don’t may try to get some scalper tickets if it is cheap or we may just go to a local bar.

Grey Cup weekend

Apologies for the overdue email… as many of you were already aware or assumed, there was - 0% interest in doing Hamilton back-to-back… so Vanier is on a 1-year sabbatical. Given that most of us set that weekend aside and Grey Cup is in Ottawa, some sort of festivities are definitely still in order. Half the fun (or more) of Grey Cup revolves around the Grey Cup events and parties.

There is interest in enjoying some of these on Saturday and Sunday from the people I’ve talked to so, we are throwing it out there. I have a handful of rooms for Sat and Sun nights reserved in old Hull (literally just over the Portage bridge) which is a 5-10 minute Uber from The Market. Everything in Ottawa within 30 minutes was sold out but that could change depending on who gets into the Grey Cup… If there are 2 western teams, many of those rooms will get likely cancelled so might be able to get some right downtown.

Loose plan is to meet Saturday and heading to some events… there are some good ones like The Spirit of Edmonton (in the Market) and Ridernation at Lansdowne but all the bars in the area will be rocking. As for Sunday… there are tons of tailgates, both organized and unorganized. Some people have tickets, but most don’t, so we can play it by ear… if some cheap or free ones fall into our hands then we will roll with it! The bars will be fun as well. Being at Craft Brewery, Joey’s or Local in the area would be a blast but would have to get there early I think… or tailgate till the game starts and head there when the people with tickets leave.

Anyway… an exec meeting is happening Monday where we can firm up some plans but shoot me a note if you are interested in meeting us and we can figure out rooms and events etc.
