Hi Fellas,

Teams are set for the Vanier Cup!!! Saskatchewan Huskies vs the Dirty ‘ol Western Mustangs. Should be a good match-up. Even if it is shitty weather, they both have strong running games so we should see a solid game.

We are ready to rock for this weekend… reservations for Slack Night have been secured at Restaurant Louis-Hebert. I will send a final update/email later in the week but the itinerary has been set (see bottom of email). I have final costs in for bus and tiks. They gave us group rate for tiks so were a bit less at $60 taxes in. The bus will be $220 (tip and room for driver included) so if you can please send me an e-transfer for $280 at some point, that would be appreciated. This also includes a small bonus piece of required Vanier Cup equipment.

Jrock,  who is VP of Health and Safety on the Vanier executive, has held several meetings with Health officials of the Province of Quebec… turns out that NEITHER the traditional Santa beard (which is also highly flammable) OR a fine crochet beard (pictured below) meet provincial health PPE requirements for COVID protocols….. but we have found a solution!

Key “approved” safety equipment will be handed out prior to the game. We were only able to secure one unit per person, so please do not lose your personal safety gear.

Instructions on how to use the device will be given by Jerred as part of the on-board safety demonstration.

Friday Dec. 3

 

9:15-9:30           meet at Gourmet Restaurant, Hwy 7, Carleton Place – Load Bus

9:50                    pick up Adam and Tom @ Stitts-Vegas park & Ride

9:51                    greetings and salutations

9:52                    depart to Quebec City

9:53                    commence cranial dehydration

9:54-10:30         pick-ups for Jacob and Glennis

11:00                  official rookie intro’s/ presentations (Dave and Calvin)

11:30- 12ish      stop for lunch somewhere en route

1:30-4:00           More Drinking, spinning of yarns, sharing of curds, multiple renditions of singing 99 bottles of beer on the wall, churlish behavior

4-ish – 6:20       Arrival at Hotel. Disembark/unload, check -in, go to rooms, ironing slacks, practice Franglaise

6:21-7:04           primp and prepare for “Slack night”. Don your on finest Under Armour clothing and Brut 33/AXE

7:05                    meet in Lobby, general banter

7:10                    depart for Restaurant Louis Hebert @ 668, Grande-Allée Est

7:15 – 9:30        Fine French Cuisine and spirits, general regalia

9:30-???             Spill into Grand-Allee and enjoy evening ** recommended at some point in weekend to partake late-night poutine at Chez Ashton @ 640 Grande Allée E **

10:30 ish            Sharpie’s gets into town and meets us somewhere

 

Saturday Dec. 4

8:35                    Partake of Breakfast Caesars and/or Coffee w Baileys… BREAKFAST?

9:05                    Santa’s suit up

9:25                    Meet in Lobby

9:35                    load bus and depart for pre-game

9:45                    arrive at Stade Peps en route to bar for Kent to grab tickets  

10:00                  arrive at Tapis Vert

10:00 -12:15     General debauchery and festivities

12:16                  depart for Stadium, grab a pint and find seats

1:00                    kickoff

2:45-ish              Halftime festivities

4:00                    meet bus

4:20                    arrive at Hotel, disrobe, clean up

4:30                    Free time. Recommended activities include; shower, neatly fold Santa suit, hot tub, switch to white liquor

9:50 AM             Be on bus or find alternative way home!

4-5PM                 drop off in CP with destination TBD… thinking Cdn. Tire again to be easier for the bus driver

 G’day Lads,

 Things are coming together nicely for next weekend. Tickets have been purchased for the game and are we sitting near the 35-yard line, in section 116. We are on the UTECK winner side, in the designated “Santa section” within close proximity of the concessions.  Please see diagram below ; )

 

Pregame festivites are setup for Saturday AM… We have reservations at pretty cool place a couple km’s from the Stadium called Tapis Vert… Looks pretty sweet ; Ste-Foy Green Carpet (tapisvertstefoy.ca) They have 22 pool tables, 5 ping pong tables, 2 snooker tables, 12 Loto-Québec machines, 4 private rooms, many foosball tables, dart boards and tons of big screens….. and BEER. I have reservations for 10:15 so we can grab “brunch” and beverages there before the game. Should be Fun. 

I will send out a final itinerary and final costs for bus and tiks soon… just waiting to hear back from Restaurant Louis Hebert (the place we have gone the last few years) to see if they can accommodate us for Friday “Slack Night” dinner. I have other options but want to give them a try first. The grub has always been good but just might have left it a little late. Either way, we will find some good eats for Slack Night.

Hey Lads, 

Just checking in to keep you in the loop that plans are coming together nicely… We have a fine crew lined up for the trip and several fresh Rookies for this year as well. I have booked the same bus company and we will have “Good ‘ol Gary” as our driver again, which is awesome! Please note, that ALL passengers are required to be double vaccinated per their policy.  

I will be asking for room assignments next week to book our block so I will need to know who will be in your room. We will be in the Classique (we put the ass in class) section at $ 164.00 single and double occupancy plus taxes… and of course we will be access to the wine machine ; )

 I will try to get our regular restaurant for Friday “Slack night” supper. Food is great and very comfy chairs

Hopefully they have made it through Covid OK… we always have our bar from last year as back-up… Ed’s friend can save us a table and Adam can sing us a song. 

Adam and I will order tickets by end of next week so please let us know if you want a ticket to the game ($55-60), or if you plan on tailgating the whole time. Once we get final $$ numbers for the bus and tickets I will let you know!
